Positions in American Football
American football has 11 players each team and play in different positions and formations. Just like in Fifa football, the position of every player depends on his abilities and skills. Though, American football requires players with a robust body and great strength, since game is very hassle.
Quarterback: He is the leader of the team and he is one who ailign all the team members in a huddle before the kick off. He receives the ball from the centre and hands off the ball to the fellow member while running cross back.
Center: The player who picks the ball from the quarter back is called the centre. He is among the most active player throughout the game.
Running Back: Running back is the position where players running back towards the opponent goal post and catch the ball. The running back positions are normally occupied by the fastest members of the team.
Fullback: Full back is the position where a player is responsible to cut off the passé and grab the balls from the opponent quarter backs. The player placed in this particular position needs to cover long yards to block the opponent passes.
Wide receiver: Wide receivers are often the most important position for any team. There are approximately 3-4 wide receivers placed in every team. They stand in the far most corner section of the football field and ready to receive the pass from full back. They play a great role in making a move towards the touch down.
Tight End: He is a player who serves as a receiver and also as a blocker. This player lines up beside the offensive tackle to the right or the left of the quarterback.
This player performs the role of both receiver and the blocker. This player helps to strengthen the dense by blocking the opponent players when they are creating their move.
Left guard and right guard: The inner two members of the offensive line, whose jobs are to block for and protect the quarterback and ball carriers.
They are player positioned in the inner centre line. Their role is to defend the quarterbacks and pullers of the opponents.
Left tackle and right tackle: These are defenders positioned just outside the inner line in the centre.
Defensive Tackle: These are the two strong members just standing cross the centre line and their job is to unblock the gap between the defense members, so that a full back could not able to pass through the gap. This position requires mental alertness and good psychological skills.
Defensive End: The outer two members of the defensive line. Generally, their jobs are to overcome offensive blocking and meet in the backfield, where they combine to tackle the quarterback or ball carrier. On running plays to the outside, they're responsible for forcing the ball carrier either out of bounds or toward (into) the pursuit of their defensive teammates.
These are the top positions in the American football and some of the other positions are the linebacker, safety and corner back. In the American football, every position is very important as the other position and the coordination among various members in the respective positions to tackle the challenges and do the maximum touch downs.
