History Of Brown University Football Team

Brown University has a great role in the development of the American football in the remote areas of Providence in the Rhode Island. Of Course, football is a prime sport played in America for more than 100 years, but the university football teams have the credit to extend the reach of American football to remote and widely located areas. Brown University is one of the most prime academic institutions in the Rhode Island and it is also counted in Americas Top 20 state universities. The university has been widely applauded and known for its contribution in the academics, especially in the research and development. Over the years, the university has produced many brilliant engineers, software experts and entrepreneurs. Besides the academics, the Brown University is also known for its professional football team “Brown Bears”.


Brown Bears have played their first profession American football game in the year 1878 and now the team competes’ in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) and a regular member of the Ivy League. The Brown University football team practices in their home stadium, the “Brown Stadium” situated on the Providence, Rhode Island with the seating capacity of 20,000 spectators.


In order to know the history of Brown University, one has to go back to 1926 when Brown University set a remarkable win in an Iron Man match against the Yale University with 11 players in the match lasting for 60 minutes. After successfully defeating the Yale, the University team has defeated Dartmouth with a record 10-0 victory with the sane 11 players who played against the Yale. Following their remarkable run in the 1926, the Brown University has performed extremely well in the next more decades. Presently The Brown Bears are among the best rated football teams in the United States and their recent performances in the Ivy League have proven their determinations, to be the best university football team in the States.
